When I decided to study optics I did not really know what to expect. However, after a short while I discovered a wonderful world of possibilities, and I was fascinated by the great variety of applications in the diverse fields of optics. Shortly: I was caught by the virus of light!
While I was still studying optical engineering in Chile, I had done two internships in Astronomical Observatories. During that time I discovered that optics was what I really wanted to do. Ever since, I have enjoyed working with people of great experience and I tried to learn from them as much as possible. It was the best imaginable school and inspiration. For the last five years I have been working on different projects in the areas of astronomical instrumentation. This included: the testing of small optical elements and complete systems, working with fiber optics, interferometers, wavefront sensors, lasers, etc. In optics there are always new ideas and applications evolving, which i what I like most about it. The world of optics is colourful and anything but monochromatic!
