Iradion welcomes Luxinar into its family
Iradion Laser Inc, Uxbridge, MA announces exciting news about the company: 1) Iradion CORE LASER TECHNOLOGY has impacted global laser markets, 2) CERAMICORE, NANOCORE and FEMTOCORE lasers represent technology advancements, and 3) Luxinar (formerly Rofin-Sinar UK) has joined the Iradion family. Since 2007, Iradion has continued to expand its products and services to the global marketplace. The dramatic growth of Iradion CERAMICORE CO2 laser usage in a wide range of industries and applications represents testimonials to the performance and longevity of the Eternity, Infinity and Destiny models. In addition, it speaks volumes regarding Iradion's Rapid Response Service Program, which provides all its customers with unmatched service and support. Also, Iradion has been working closely with medical equipment manufacturers regarding medical and dental applications by designing CO2 models with 11.2 um wavelengths. This wavelength uses CO2 assist gas that is FDA-friendly while preventing the absorption of the laser beam and "wicking" of body fluids into the laser surgical tool. In addition, band-select optics have been introduced for special applications that require pure CO2 wavelengths. After Iradion expanded its product lines with Innolas Photonics to include NANOCORE DPSS and FEMTOCORE ultra short pulse lasers in 2022, Iradion welcomed Luxinar, Hull UK in July 2024. Luxinar’s SR, SCX and OEM sealed CO2 lasers offer 80 to 1000W models with peak pulsing capability, excellent power stability and all CO2 wavelengths. Advances include a wide range of power, pulsing and wavelength options and configurations to meet customer applications. Iradion and Luxinar CO2 lasers stand apart from the typical glass and metal tube laser designs with advanced electronic, optic and excitation methodologies, ensuring the highest performance, reliability, and longevity. Regarding their femto ultrashort pulse and DPSS product lines, the latest technology and design criteria have been implemented to create “state-of-the-art” solutions. Medical & pharmaceutical applications for Luxinar’s laser sources
Product traceability is critical in the pharmaceutical industry. Stringent regulations ensure that faulty or contaminated drugs can be traced and isolated, and counterfeit or black market products can be identified and removed from the supply chain. CO2 lasers can apply information to pharmaceutical packaging materials, including card, foil, plastic and glass. Human-readable text and Data Matrix codes are applied directly on the production line on the fly. Laser marks are permanent and indelible. Not restricted to packaging applications, our CO2 lasers find uses across the medical industry, where they can cut, drill, perforate and mark a range of products.
SUB-SURFACE GLASS MARKING FOR THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY
Ultrashort pulse lasers, including Luxinar’s LXR® series, mark in the bulk of optically transparent materials for applications including syringe and vial marking; sub-surface codes are indelible and not subject to wear or damage. The LXR® produces characters under 0.5 millimetres high and consisting of closely spaced dots that are barely visible to the naked eye while the surface of the glass remains intact and free from any process debris.
STENT CUTTING
A stent is a small tubular framework which is placed inside a blocked vessel or duct to keep it open and may be made from plastic (e.g., polyethylene, polyurethane, Teflon) or metal (e.g., stainless steel, nitinol or platinum). Laser cutting is an attractive process for stent manufacturing. In an application where the smallest defect could have huge implications for patient safety, the laser can cut fine detail accurately and consistently, ensuring that the stents are uniform in shape and size. The entire process can be automated and is fast and efficient.
The LXR® series of ultrashort pulse lasers offers three wavelengths in the infrared, visible and UV spectral regions, enabling the processing of a wide range of stent materials whilst meeting stringent quality standards.

Electronics applications for Luxinar’s laser sources – Lasers4Electronics
CO2 lasers are useful in various electronic applications, such as cutting individual components or circuits from electronic substrates, marking electronic components, drilling holes in mobile phone cases, cutting plastic films for touch screens and patterning plastic screens for backlit displays.
The benefits of lasers compared with conventional mechanical processing include less downtime, improved accuracy, reduced or no maintenance, indelible marking of a range of materials, low heat accumulation, and high-quality machined finish.
SCRIBING METAL FOILS
Ultrashort pulse lasers can scribe metal foils, generally made of aluminium or copper, for RFID and mobile device antenna applications. The laser selectively removes the conductive metal layer from a carrier or substrate material, typically paper or polyimide, to fabricate antennas and other flexible circuit components.
The constant drive towards miniaturisation calls for scribing narrow lines as close together as possible. The adjacent lines must be electrically isolated to stop short circuits between device features.
A femtosecond laser such as Luxinar’s LXR® 120-1030 removes the metal cleanly from the substrate, with no damage to the surrounding area and no burrs or rough edges, thus avoiding short circuits.
